Matthew French

Founder of Awesomely Authentic & Full-Time ‘90s Vibes Enthusiast

Matthew French is the nostalgic brain behind Awesomely Authentic—a bold, colorful consulting and training brand that mixes real talk, retro flair, and a deep commitment to inclusion. With over a decade of experience working with the LGBTQ+ community and eight years of professional career coaching under their belt, Matthew has built a high-energy, no-fluff approach to helping companies, colleges, and employee resource groups meet their diversity, equity, and inclusion goals with authenticity and impact.

So, why the ‘90s?
Because the ‘90s were loud, expressive, full of energy—and totally unforgettable. Think: neon colors, animated weirdness, and radical individuality. That’s the lens Matthew brings to every keynote, workshop, and consulting session. Whether you're launching a DEI strategy or just trying to make your workplace less blah and more bold—we believe you can have fun while doing the work.

Currently based in Charlotte, NC, Matthew serves as a Community & Engagement Manager in the aviation industry. Their resume includes:

  • Equity & Inclusion Specialist at a tech startup

  • Facilitator for big tech teams

  • Assistant Director for Employer Partnerships & Diversity Strategies at UNC Charlotte

  • Career Counselor in NYC at Marymount Manhattan College

  • Graduate Assistant at Old Dominion University (while also working with OUT for Work)

They hold a Master’s in Lifespan & Digital Communication and a B.S. in Communication from Old Dominion University. And yes—they still know how to program a VCR.

When Matthew isn’t building inclusive workplaces, you’ll probably find them outdoors with their husband and pater of 8 years Austin, their four dogs, 11 chickens, a tank full of fish, and a backyard turtle pond. They're also a lifelong comic book nerd (Storm is the GOAT), movie lover, and proud supporter of local bookstores and coffee shops.

Their work has been spotlighted by national career associations, CNN Business,  nonprofits, and countless conference stages across the country.

Matthew’s mission?

Help people and organizations show up as their most authentic, awesome selves—and have a little fun while doing it.
